Bio

Sarah Scarr is Swedish-American writer, book-maker, and translator based in Alabama. She earned her GED in Loudoun County Virginia in 2001, received her BA from Columbia University in 2016, and is a dual MFA candidate at the University of Alabama in Creative Writing and Book Arts. Scarr’s fiction and non-fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in Psychopomp Magazine, Cosmonauts Avenue, and elsewhere. Her translation of Karolina Bång and Karin Casimir-Lindholm’s graphic novel/exhibition, 51% Swedish, appeared at The Swedish American Museum in Chicago in 2017. Her sound collages have been included in the NYC chapter of the Kinokophone Collective’s exhibitions at the New York Public Library. She was the 2016 Dasha Epstein Playwriting Fellow and is a 2020 Fellow at the Alabama Prison Arts and Education Project. She produces artists books as Two Trick Pony Press, which has released collaborations with Sophie Strohmeier, Sarah Panlibuton Barnes, Dee Dee Behind, and others. Her recent projects include co-writing the script for Mountain Monster (forthcoming in 2020) directed by Lindsey Martin and an artist book with Pete Beatty titled Descriptions of Teeth for Characters and Concepts in a Novel.
